Presented as a solo, Selya interprets the one-woman Jean Cocteau play La Voix Humaine, a Joyce commission that features an emotional portrait of a woman devastated by the end of an affair. Taking place over the course of one evening in her modest apartment, the character (performed by Karine Plantadit) converses via telephone with the man who has left her. Through expressive movement and conversation she conveys strength, weakness, honesty, deceit and desperation. Featuring Rika Okamoto. read more »

CorbinDances's unprecedented two week season will include seven works on two programs. Witness two world premieres: Romantic Conversions by Patrick Corbin to Rachmaninov's "Piano Concerto #2" and a new solo work by Elizabeth DeMent. GERALDCASELDANCE presents the world premiere of Border. Set to a largely impressionist sound score, Border asks, "How do we define our identity? What if we had no physical borders? Would we lose or gain more of ourselves?" This evening-length piece highlights Casel's complex choreographic structures with virtuosic and emotionally evocative dancing. Jennifer Kayle joins collaborators from across the Midwest with dancers from five NYC companies. Signature elements, such as movable sets, can be seen in four NYC premieres including Heel where 1,000 plastic bags create the landscape of a post-industrial, post-paradise, fall from grace. NÉLIDA TIRADO FLAMENCO

Solo flamenco artist Nélida Tirado is well-known for her intense grace, passion and powerful style. Original music and choreography steeped in traditional and modern flamenco style are presented, as well as 37 años and the world premiere of Delirio, a new work inspired by basic human emotion and commissioned by Harlem Stage/Aaron Davis Hall. BRIDGET MOORE DANCE

Informed by African American culture, aesthetics, spirituality and personal experience, Bridget L. Moore brings her highly physical, fluid, sensual and structured choreography to Joyce SoHo. Influenced by visual images, she transcends the conventions of concert choreography by African Americans working in the spirit of great choreographers such as Dr. Pearl Primus, Katherine Dunham, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar and Diane McIntyre. read more »
