Each spring, The Joyce Theater Foundation presents Free Advice, a series of seminars that cover a wide range of topics to assist dancers, dance companies, and choreographers as they navigate the field. Seminars are free. Space is limited so reservations are strongly encouraged.

APAP Showcasing

Are you new to APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters)? Or are you interested in discovering how to maximize your participation in this annual event? Join our panel of APAP veterans to find out how useful the event can be; how necessary it is for you to be on a roster; what presenters are looking for; how to determine whether showcasing is right for you; the different types of showcases; and get the scoop on the hall and booths. Our panelists can help you make the most out of this intense global performing arts marketplace and conference.

Production Basics

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to recognize and communicate your production needs, as well as what you can reasonably expect from the production team when you work in a theater. Panelist will help you understand and create workable production schedules, explain how to find qualified crew and what you might expect of them, help you maximize tech time, figure out what your insurance needs might be, and much more.

Le Grand Continental
This summer, The Joyce Theater and the River To River Festival will present the U.S. premiere of Le Grand Continental by Montréal-based choreographer Sylvain Émard at the South Street Seaport. This exciting performance event brings together 200+ participants of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds – dancers and non-dancers alike – to perform a contemporary re-imagining of a traditional festive line dance.
