Overview

With The Joyce, getting closer to dance goes beyond getting closer to the stage. In fact, you may take advantage of a variety of educational programs.

  • The Joyce partners with New York City metropolitan area K-12th grade schools to create its school programs that reach over 2,000 students and teachers.
  • The Family Matinee series makes dance accessible by inviting young people between the ages of 6-14 years old to the adult table.
  • We also offer opportunities for life-long learning with informative post-performance Humanities discussions, Dance Talks, and other learning opportunities as part of our adult education programs.

In addition, The Joyce partners with arts institutions, education institutes, and community and social service organizations throughout the year to bring dance to diverse audiences. Collaborators have included The New School, Bed-Sty Restoration Corporation, and The Hudson Guild. The Theater has had a strong commitment to community engagement and education since its founding in 1982.
