Performing at The Joyce Theater
Not-for-Profit Dance companies perform at The Joyce under two different programs: the Dance Presentation Program and the Subsided Rental Program.Through the Subsidized Rental Program, The Joyce financially assists the dance companies in self-presenting their engagements, by contributing over two-thirds of the Theater’s operating costs. Participating companies receive a comprehensive package of facilities and services which provides:
- A complete staff, available to assist dance companies with everything from focusing lighting instruments to advice on the best use of advertising dollars
- A marketing program that can generate an average of 30% of ticket sales
- A computerized box office to sell your tickets and to provide up-to-the-minute sales reports
- Use of all of the theater's facilities and extensive supply of technical equipment
- Professionally printed performance programs
Subsidized Rental engagements are booked through an application process. Applications for the 2008-09 season are being accepted now through December 7, 2007. For more details about the program click here, or if you are interested in having your company perform at The Joyce for one week or more, please download the application. Companies will be notified of the decisions by the end of February 2008, and contracts will be signed by the end of March 2008.
The Dance Presentation Program affords another opportunity for dance companies to perform at The Joyce. As the presenter, The Joyce provides the same package of services extended to subsidized rental companies. In addition, The Joyce covers the marketing and press expenses, and pays an agreed-upon performance fee to the companies.
Companies are invited to participate in the Dance Presenting Program by The Joyce’s Director of Programming
