Performance Space Rental

The ground floor studio of Joyce SoHo doubles as a 74-seat theater and is available for performances from September through July. Independent choreographers and non-profit dance companies may apply for the subsidized rental performance space. Rental week availability is curated via an annual application process.

At a cost of $300, the Standard Rental Package includes:

• 2 evenings of performances (Friday and Saturday)
• 12 hours of technical rehearsal in the performance space (Tuesday-Thursday)
• Use of lighting and CD sound system
• Assistance of the Production Manager, House Manager, Box Office and Administrative Personnel
• Dance company retention of all box office proceeds

Additional performances and technical rehearsal (4 hrs) may be requested for an additional fee of $100 each.

Flexible Performance Rental proposals are now also accepted at additional costs to be determined on a project-by-project basis.

A refundable security deposit of $100, as well as a non-refundable insurance fee of $125 (if the company cannot provide proof of its own insurance) is required upon acceptance of rental.

The application for our September 2008-July 2009 season is now available! Applications for the season will be accepted January 15-February 15, 2008. For your convenience, this year’s application can be typed directly into the Microsoft Word document.

Rehearsal Studio Rental

First Floor Studio & Performance Space Details:

Second Floor Doris Duke Dance Studio Details

• Marley surface, sprung wood floor

• 36'x24' of unobstructed space
• 12-foot ceiling
• Mirrors and stationary barres
• Open 10 am to 10 pm seven days a week (except during performances)

Third Floor Studio Details:

• Marley surface, wood floor appropriate for dance
• CD sound system, TV, and DVD
• 35'x60' of unobstructed space
• 14-foot ceiling
• Skylight and large windows
• Mirrors and portable barres
• Open 10 am to 10 pm seven days a week

Rental Details

All studio space is booked in two-hour increments. To reserve space call (212) 431-9233

$5 per-hour bookings:

• Book up to one month in advance
• There is no limit to the number of hours one may book per year
• Book no more than one 2 hour block at a time (consecutive 2 hour blocks not permitted)
• 48-hour notice of cancellation required

$10 per-hour bookings (next call-in - January 2, 2007):

• Book up to four months in advance
• Book no more than 200 hours per year
• Book 2 hrs min. and 6 hrs max. per day
• 48-hour notice of cancellation required

$20 per-hour bookings:

• Contracted payment
• 10% deposit for rentals exceeding 50 hours
• Rental fees are due monthly on the first of the month; 2-week notice of cancellation required

Studio Hours & Availability:

• 10am to 10pm seven days a week, except during performances
• Not available for classes, workshops, studio showings, meetings, or auditions
