Technical Director – Stage Operations
The Technical Director is one member of a three-person production management staff that oversees all stage operations at The Joyce Theater.  In conjunction with the Director of Production and the Lighting Supervisor, the Technical Director – Stage Operations is tasked with making sure that all stage needs of any production at The Joyce Theater are fully satisfied.  This person works closely with the Director of Production in order to schedule all crew calls, makes decisions regarding the adaptation of a company’s production, and ensures The Joyce equipment is maintained in good working condition at all times.  Supervision of the Joyce Theater stagehands (IATSE-Local One) is a large part of this position.

Assistant House Manager
The Assistant House Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of Front-of-House operations during performances.  This includes: supervising the sub-managers, ushers, bartenders, and lobby attendants; maintaining the safety and well-being of all persons in the building and upholding a first-rate level of customer service with all Joyce Theater patrons.

Assistant Director of Special Events

The Assistant Director of Special Events is responsible for managing all activities related to The Joyce Theater Foundation’s fundraising events, including its annual Gala; Fall fundraising event and auction; opening night receptions for Joyce presentations; donor fulfillment events, including season preview and open rehearsals; and cultivation dinners. In addition, this role is responsible for The Joyce’s Travel program.

Special Events Associate

The Special Events Associate serves as a key member of the Individual Giving team, assisting with the overall management of The Joyce Theater Foundation’s Special Events.  The Associate works closely with the Individual Giving Manager identifying, cultivating and moving individuals from attendance at events and the travel program into the pipeline of the department’s various giving programs.  The Associate will oversee and solicit a portfolio of individual donors attend Joyce Theater events.

Assistant Director of Major Gifts

The Assistant Director of Major Gifts is a key member of the eight-person Development team and is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts $5,000 and above. Working closely with the events team and Programming department, the Assistant Director of Major Gifts will organize a menu of funding opportunities, allowing major donors the opportunity to make significant investments in The Joyce and its future growth.

Internships

The Joyce Theater Foundation actively seeks highly motivated high school and college students interested in learning the about the behind-the-scene operations of one of the only theaters built by dancers for dance.  The Joyce’s invaluable commitment to artists and audiences extends to cultivating the next generation of arts administrators, marketers, managers, and educators in the field. College and graduate level students enrolled in a degree/certificate/diploma granting program are eligible for the unpaid internship and interested in placement for 2018, should contact Heather McCartney, Director of School & Family Programs at: hmccartney@joyce.org with a cover letter stating your area of interest (Education, Development, Marketing, or Programming) along with your résumé and hours of availability.

Programming Intern

The programming department of The Joyce Theater seeks an intern for the spring semester. Candidates should be current undergraduate/graduate students interested in performing arts administration. The intern will assist members of the department with various tasks including preparations for our annual gala, research projects, producing and special event initiatives, artist services, database maintenance, preparation for the 18-19 season, and more. Interested applicants should send a résumé and cover letter to Heather McCartney at hmccartney@joyce.org and should indicate interest in a programming department internship in the subject line of the email message to distinguish from other internships at The Joyce.
