Artist Talkback with Botis Seva and d. Sabela grimes
Streamed live Friday, October 23 at noon Eastern Time
Our latest Artist Talkback features d. Sabela grimes, a choreographer, writer, composer, and educator, and Botis Seva, a dance artist, director, and choreographer, in conversation.
grimes, whose own interdisciplinary works investigate the physical and meta-physical efficacies of Afro-Diasporic cultural practices, invites Seva to discuss his own practice of experimenting with hip hop dance theatre as the Artistic Director of the London-based collective, Far From The Norm. The two artists deliberate how breaking the molds of tradition can allow space for play and exploration, and the delicacy of embedding details into movement that still reveals truths about our societal realities.
Special thanks to Lee Griffiths and Nicole Klaymoon for their help bringing this artist chat to fruition.
