ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER

The Assistant Production Manager is one member of a three-person production management team that oversees on-stage operations at The Joyce Theater.  In conjunction with the Director of Production and the Lighting Supervisor, the Assistant Production Manager is tasked with making sure that all stage needs of any production at The Joyce Theater are fully satisfied.  This person works closely with the Director of Production in order to schedule all crew calls, makes decisions regarding the adaptation of a company’s production, and ensures The Joyce equipment is maintained in good working condition at all times.  Supervision of the Joyce Theater stagehands (IATSE-Local One) is a large part of this position. STUDIO OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE

The Joyce Theater Foundation, New York’s leading dance presenting organization, seeks a responsible, motivated, self-starter to take on the role of Studio Operations Associate at The New York Center for Creativity and Dance (NYCC&D). The individual will report to the Studio Operations Manager and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the studios in a day-to-day operation and under the guidance of the Studio Operations Manager will facilitate studio rentals and payments. The NYCC&D is a 7 story, 60,000 square foot building housing 5 dance studios and several monthly artist rental spaces. NYCC&D is open seven days per week, with an expectation of a 20-28 hour work week. The schedule is subject to change depending on the needs of the studios. HOUSE MANAGER

The Joyce Theater Foundation, New York’s leading dance presenting organization, seeks a part-time House Manager to support the Senior House Manager in all Front of House activities for all performances and special events that take place during the season. Qualified candidates must have experience in dealing with the public and can manage large numbers of people, in sometimes stressful situations, in a calm and measured way.  Candidates should also be well organized, flexible, and have strong management experience. FRONT OF HOUSE USHER

The Joyce Theater’s Front of House Department is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of staff usher. Candidates should have experience in dealing with the public and can manage large numbers of people, in sometimes stressful situations. LIGHTING BOARD OPERATOR

The Joyce Theater is seeking a qualified Lighting Board Operator to assist the Director of Production, Lighting Supervisor, Assistant Production Manager, and Head Electrician as defined by the needs of the production or event.  Interested applicants should have 2+ years of hands-on theatrical/dance technical experience, with an emphasis on lighting console/system operation.  Rigging, carpentry, and video/projections knowledge are a plus.  This is a full-time hourly position.  The Joyce technicians are represented by Local One - IATSE where hourly rates and work conditions are governed by a collective bargaining agreement.  The Joyce Theater is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

The Joyce Theater Foundation, New York’s leading dance presenting organization, seeks a full-time Development Associate to play a key role in supporting the overall workflow of the eight (8)-person Development team as well as liaising with the other departments across the organization. The Development Associate assists with the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of prospective and current donors through the individual giving pipeline, primarily within the Friends of The Joyce program.

The successful candidate will be a positive, conscientious self-starter who can effectively prioritize varied assignments within a fast-moving office environment. A strategic and detail-oriented mindset is key. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a high level of computer literacy are required. Experience with Tessitura or a fundraising database is desirable. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is preferred. Familiarity with the philanthropic community and fundraising protocol is favorable. A bachelor’s degree and/or relevant office experience is required.

Internships

 

DEVELOPMENT INTERN WINTER/SPRING 2024

The Joyce Theater Foundation seeks to engage one (1) Development Intern working in-person to learn aspects of fundraising in a fast-paced, professional arts organization. The intern will primarily interact with the Special Events and Individual Giving teams, including tasks associated with the annual Gala. Gain experience with the Tessitura database including data entry, account management, prospect tracking, and reporting.

Strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are required with:

  • Identifying and researching prospects
  • Helping with large and small-scale special events
  • Ensuring timely delivery and distribution of materials and event collaterals

PROGRAMMING INTERN SPRING 2024

The Joyce Theater Foundation seeks to engage one (1) Programming Department Intern working in-person with some remote flexibility. Joyce Programming Intern will have the opportunity to learn about performing arts programming by working with the Programming Department on:

  • Developing organizational spreadsheets and documents to prepare for the upcoming season
  • Researching and compiling background information on contracted and potential Joyce presentations
  • Updating archival databases of Joyce engagements and residencie
  • Gathering and collating supporting information for artist visas

MARKETING INTERN WINTER 2024

The Joyce Theater Foundation seeks to engage one (1) Marketing Department Intern working
in-person with some remote flexibility. A Joyce Marketing Intern will have the opportunity to
learn about performing arts marketing by working with the Marketing Department on:

  • Content creation and maintenance on all Joyce social media platforms in support of
    social media strategy 
  • Engaging with audiences on all Joyce social media platforms
  • Content ideas for TikTok
  • Program book creation
  • Developing partnerships for cross-promotion initiatives
